How to Manage Amount Format in ChequeGuru
Learn how to configure how amounts appear in words on printed cheques — Indian numbering (Lakhs/Crores) or international style.
The amount-in-words field on a cheque must match the figures exactly. ChequeGuru converts numbers automatically — this setting controls whether it uses Indian grouping (Lakhs, Crores) or international style, and how it handles paise.
- 1. Open Amount Format. Go to Setup → Amount Format.
- 2. Choose numbering style. Select Indian Numbering for Lakhs and Crores (e.g. "Twenty-Three Lakhs Forty-Five Thousand"), or International Numbering for Millions and Billions.
- 3. Set decimal handling. Choose Round to nearest rupee to drop paise, or Show paise to include them (e.g. "...and Fifty Paise").
- 4. Set the suffix. Enter the closing word after the amount in words. Indian banks use "Only" — e.g. "Forty-Seven Thousand Five Hundred Only".
- 5. Set currency prefix. Choose whether the amount starts with "Rupees" (standard) or ₹.
- 6. Preview. Type a test amount like 47500.50 in the Preview field and verify the output looks exactly as your bank expects.
- 7. Save. Click Save. All future printed cheques will use the new format.
